This Clinical Guide for Assessing Client Safety was created for mental health providers by a fellow mental health provider to help provide concrete steps on best practices and what to do when clients present with concerns for safety. This clinical guide is designed to supplement your education, professional experiences, trainings, and clinical judgement. However, we all know that our clinical experiences and training can differ significantly, so please use this guide as a way to conceptualize the complexities of assessing client safety. 

Please note: no two clients or situations are ever completely the same. The content in this guide has been helpful in my clinical experiences and I think you'll find it to be helpful for you too! However, in no way should be used to replace your own clinical judgement or decisions made in consultation with your supervisor or clinical consultation.
